A real plan for a true championship
We, the Victims, are not interested in bringing the BCS to the bargaining table. We are not here to hash out the next generation of "tweaks" or "refinements" to the current old-money system. We are tired of being swept aside in favor of "tradition", and we are numb to the argument that we, as so-called "mid-majors", aren't worthy of an equal shot at a national championship. We don't believe that our players are the only athletes on any level of college sports who could not bear the strain of a few more games. We're not looking for another bone, and we won't be happy with an outside chance, provided the computers and polls and fatcats even have the capacity to grant one. WE WANT A PLAYOFF!
Help us tell the NCAA and the BCS that WE DEMAND THIS:
1. A 16-TEAM PLAYOFF TOURNAMENT, wherein:
2. Each conference champion receives an automatic berth, and
3. The next five highest-ranked teams, REGARDLESS OF CONFERENCE AFFILIATION, receive the remaining berths.
Simple, right? Makes sense? Fair? So...WHY IS THIS SO HARD TO ACHIEVE? Why must we, the fans of college football, be relied upon to finally bring an end to injustice and, at long last, to provide a real chance for a National Championship to our neglected fields of competition? The trustees of college football have turned from us while happily collecting television contracts and Non-BCS department dues. The United States Senate has appointed committees, listened to our coaches and heroes, provided a few stern looks for the cameras, and then moved on to readier votes. Our own university presidents refuse to take up the banner for an honorable cause. It's up to us! GET A NUMBER, AND LET THEM SEE YOU! STAND AND FINALLY BE COUNTED! Or, of course, you can continue to rally anonymously for your team, then cheer for someone else's champion in the end. Again.
Our teams deserve this. Our campuses need this. WE CAN GIVE IT TO THEM!
